Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was in humor mode in his television program on Sunday, Oct. 4, saying there is a sequel to the Million People March where thousands of supporters gathered on September 26 to prod him to run for President.

There is another one coming, he told anchor Geraldine Tiu in the Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa television program on ABS/CBN.

“Dagan, Duterte (Run, Duterte),” said the mayor who is known for his sense of humor.

The Million People March at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta in Manila organized by various Duterte for President groups all over the country was a last-minute move to urge Duterte to run in the presidential race in 2016.

q4Although considered as a major contender in the presidential derby based on his showing in poll surveys, Duterte repeatedly denies he is running for President.

In Zamboanga City at the time of the Luneta event to help in the rescue of four victims snatched by the Abu Sayyaf in  a resort in Samal Island, Duterte instead sent a text message that was read before the crowd.

Duterte said he was still “soul searching” and vowed the supporters that he would not abandon them.

“I will never leave you,” he said in the text message sparking new hopes that he would after all be running for President.

Pressed by Tiu if he indeed mean that he is still thinking about running, Duterte said no.

I would be discourteous and unkind if I told them I am not running, he said.

He said the crowd of supporters breezed through hot sun and rain to gather at the Luneta just to show their support for him.

Duterte said that his message meant that even if he would not run for President, he would not “leave” his supporters and will continue to push Federalism as a form of government needed by the country.
