It’s BINGO for UNA

A People Power hero is the vice presidential candidate of the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) in the 2016 election.

UNA standard bearer Vice President Jejomar Binay and his running mate Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan were expected to file their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) today, October 12.

Honasan, the UNA vice president, was on October 5 offered by Binay the post last dangled to Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, who declined.

Honasan, a military officer who was a central figure in toppling down the Marcos dictatorship during the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, would be the 6th vice presidential candidate running in the 2016 election.

Also vying for the post are independent Senator Francis Escudero, Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo of the ruling Liberal Party (LP), and Nacionalista Party senators Antonio Trillanes IV, Alan Peter Cayetano, and Marcos.

Honasan accepted the offer on Sunday, October 11, a day before start of filing of COC.

UNA has coined BINGO for the Binay-Honasan tandem.
