NIELSEN REPORT A FORGERY
Doubts have been cast over the veracity of an alleged report detailing rivals of administration presidential candidate Mar Roxas as the biggest spenders on television advertisements last year.
Vice President Jejomar Binay of the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and independent Senator Grace Poe were tagged as the biggest spenders on television ads in the alleged report by Nielsen Philippines.
The report quoting data from an alleged monitoring report by the media research firm said Binay spent P595,713,000 on TV ads from Jan. 1 to Nov. 30 last year.
The second biggest spender was Poe with P448,166,000.
She is followed by Liberal Party standard bearer Roxas with P424,870,000 and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, of PDP/Laban, with P115,423,000.
The report said the top four presidential candidates spent nearly P1.6 billion on television advertisements in 2015.

ROXAS BIGGEST SPENDER
Roxas is the leading spender for political advertisements among top presidential bets based on a 2015 report by media research firm Nielsen Philippines, according to Binay spokesman Joey Salgado.
Roxas shelled out P774.192 million for TV ads from January to December last year, he said.
Binay came in second with P695.555 million, followed by Sen. Grace Poe with P694.603 million and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte with P129.599 million.
In a December 6 report in the Philippine Star, Salgado said the data came from Nielsen Philippines.
Salgado said the report, which came out in The STAR ON December 5 saying Binay was the biggest TV ad spender did not include the placements with entries “Mar Roxas for president” and “Mar Roxas school alumni.”
“If you include these entries, Roxas would still emerge as the biggest ad spender even in November,” he said.
