The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) will investigate Edwin Jubahib over his alleged land buying spree in the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) involving nearly P1 Billion, reports in Davao City-based radio said.
Jubahib, personal assistant of Davao del Norte First District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, is running for governor in the coming May elections. The BIR probe, according to the radio reports, will include Alvarez, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, who has also been reported as having bought millions of pesos worth of beach front properties in the tourist island of Siargao in Surigao.
Jubahib is running against Board Member Rodolfo “Rodney” del Rosario Jr. Alvarez is seeking reelection against Governor Anthony del Rosario. Alvarez and Jubahib are running under the Alvarez Wing a local bloc of the PDP/Laban. The Del rosarios, including reelectionist Second District Rep. Antonio Floirendo Jr. who is up against Vice Governor Alan Dujali of the Alvarez Wing, will carry the banner of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), a regional political party organized by presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
