Preparations of local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon for the possible impacts of Tropical Storm Paeng have shifted into high gear to ensure the protection and safety of the residents.
Local officials in the region’s seven provinces — Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga and Zambales — activated on Friday their respective disaster risk reduction and management councils for the weather disturbance that is seen to threaten the region.

Paeng, the country’s 16th tropical cyclone this year and the fourth in October, is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds as millions of Filipinos prepare to honor the dead on All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
The cyclone was last spotted 220 kilometers east northeast of Borongan City in Eastern Samar or 305 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar.
