Vice president-elect Sara Duterte formally took her oath on Sunday, June 19, in Davao City as the 15th vice president of the country.
Spearheaded by Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando, Duterte took her oath in front of her constituents in Davao.
Duterte’s mother Elizabeth Zimmerman and outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte stood as her witnesses.
“The voice of 32.2 million Filipinos was loud and clear — with the message to serve our motherland. And this message has been reiterated in my oath: to consecrate myself to the service of the nation,” she said.
Prior to her inauguration ceremony, a mass was held at San Pedro Cathedral which was attended by other government officials as well as his running mate and president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Duterte will succeed the post of outgoing vice president Leni Robredo.
