Paeng death toll rises to 155

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday, November 5, reported 155 deaths due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (Nalgae), while 34 people remain missing .

The NDRRMC said 121 of these deaths have been confirmed, while 34 are for validation. Apart from these, 129 were reported injured (78 confirmed, 51 for validation). 

The affected population is now over 4.2 million, with over a million displaced persons.

the cost of damage to agriculture is estimated at P2.8 billion, and the cost of damage to infrastructure is estimated at P4.1 billion.

AFTER PAENG ONSLAUGHT: 4 regions placed under state of calamity for 6 months

 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed a proclamation placing the regions of Calabarzon, Bicol, and Western Visayas, as well as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) under a state of calamity for six months.

Marcos on Wednesday inked Proclamation 84, placing the four regions under a state of calamity in the aftermath of the former Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.

Under the proclamation, the state of calamity shall remain in force and effect for six months, “unless earlier lifted by the President.”

“More than 1.4 million of the populations in Regions 4-A (Calabarzon), 5 (Bicol Region), 6 (Western Visayas) and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) were adversely affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng,” Marcos said in the proclamation. READ MORE

Paeng death toll rises to 110

The number of reported deaths left by Tropical Storm Paeng has climbed to 110, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday.

Of these deaths, 79 were confirmed while 31 are still for validation.

Most of the deaths were reported in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao at 59.

Sixty-three people were injured and 23 are currently missing from various locations across the country.
