THE DURIAN BEAT: THE SUPER TYPHOONS OF DAVAO DEL NORTE

JUBAHIB ALVAREZ

the-durian-beatBY ROGER M. BALANZA

As Typhoon Rosita battered parts of Luzon, the country prayed that it would come and go without the destruction and misery in the scale of the howler before it that caused dozens of deaths in landslides in Benguet  and Cebu and millions in pesos in damages to crops and infrastructure.

Filipinos, especially those living in the typhoon belt, will have to live with the horror of being visited regularly by typhoons.
Preparedness like forced mass evacuation of people in the path of typhoons with history of massive floods and landslides help a lot in minimizing damage.

typhoon

There is a place in the Philippines where people have to live with two super typhoons until May 13, 2019.
But the people of Davao del Norte need not be forced to evacuate. All they have to do is cover their ears with ear plugs or headphones, to avoid the howling whirlwinds of these super typhoons.
LAUGH PA MOREYes sir, these typhoons are in human forms, their dirty mouths spewing  deadly tornados of lies, promises and black propaganda  with speed much like the catastrophic typhoon Pablo  that years ago ravaged Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental with its center winds of more than 200kph.
Luckily, these two typhoons being human in form, can only irritate the ears.
If they could do damage, it would be to the future of Davao del Norte which needs leaders of action and not braggarts and liars who promise heaven to get elected in the mid-term elections on May 13, 2019.
Dabaonons will have to endure the auditory torture from these two super typhoons up to election day and dismiss their lies and tall promises and not vote them on E-Day.
Yes, they are politicians destined to lose.
The Dabaonons may also enjoy the looming tragedy that would befall on these two humbugs,  because, sa kataposan,  tungod sa ilang pagka-sobrang hambogero, mahimo na silang kataw-anan, karadlawan, katawa-tawa, funny and could end up as the biggest joke in this election.
We thought that “tikal” (bragging rights) has been exclusively franchised to denizens of Iloilo and Antique of Panay Island.
We have plenty of Ilonggos and Karay-as in Davao del Norte, especially in the 2nd District  — Panabo City, Carmen, B. E. Dujali — who should be threatened by these two super typhoons who wanted to steal away from them the crown of the biggest tikal of them all.
Yes, sir! I am an Antiqueno nga ara damo paryente dira sa DavNor.
Some of my kaparentihan — who did not know that there is now an office in Davao called the Tikal Renewal Extension Office where they can renew their tikal license online — who went to Antique to have their tikal license renewed, have just arrived and were angry with 1st District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez and his sidekick named Edwin Jubahib who are now trying to steal away their bragging crown with their own tales of extremely unbelievable, 100 percent pure, undiluted lies and   promises about what they would do if they are elected.
Yes, sireee! The super typhoons are the congressman who wants to be re-elected and his waterboy who wants to be governor.
Lantawon ta if my Karay-a relatives have been kicked out of their tikal franchize by Alvarez’s and Jubahid’s own brand of humbuggery.
Jubabid reminds us of the joke about the media, especially the broadcast media in DavNor and Davao City.
Puro hangin!
Kag bal-an man ninyo nga damo man dira nga mga announcer kuno  mga gabaligya sang Last Two numbers, pero pamatia, mga political analyst kag propagandist ron kar-on kung gakapot sang mikropono.
Sa iyang paglibotlibot, Jubahib also sells himself as a Boholano. Ngano dili kita moto-o?
The Bol-anons never brag and will disown Jubahib because being hambog has never been in the genes of the Bol-anons.
Bol-anons are simple, honest, truthful and friendly people and they will not allow being accused of stealing the bragging rights of people from Panay, which is what Jubahib is doing.
You know why Bol-anons live in peace with everybody in DavNor?
If Alvarez and Jubahid are not  super typhoons, ano ang itatawag natin sa kanila?
Unswah? Unsay  iyang mga gipanghambog? Josko!

LAUGH PA MORE

‘ALIENS’ INVADE DAVAO’S TOURIST ISLAND

An official of Davao del Norte’s Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) expressed worry that ‘aliens’ have landed in the tourist island with their false promises of huge financial dole-outs to local officials and millions of pesos in funds for barangay projects.

ORLY AMIT 2

These aliens are fooling the people of Igacos with their false promises so thatthey can win an election, said Vice Mayor Orly Amit.
Amit named the unwelcome visitors from “outer space’  as First District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez and his assistant Edwin Jubahib. Igacos belongs to the Second District represented in Congress  by Rep. Antonio Floirendo Jr.

JUBAHIB ALVAREZ

Alvarez is seeking reelection while Jubahib is the gubernational candidate under the Alvarez Wing of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Amit  rued that Mayor Al David Uy and some barangay officials fell victims to the Alvarez-Jubahid racket by believing their promises.
Amit is running against re-electionist Uy in the 2019 mid-term elections.
Alvarez and Jubahib are aliens who have landed in Igacos, said Amit in an interview with broadcaster Sammy Baog on Davao City’s DXRR Radyo Rapido last week.
They are not from our district. They are from the First District. They came with false promises of congressional funds, and some people believed them,  said Amit.
Amit lamented that the two fragmented the unity of politicians in Igacos by dividing its leadership with promises of millions of pesos in development funds if they join their group.
Amit said until today, Alvarez’s promises of funds have remained promises.

DEL ROSARIO FLOIRENDO

Going sentimental in the radio interview, Amit also expressed sadness over Igacos officials who were quick to jump to the ‘alien’ Alvarez-Jubahid camp, and forgetting leaders who had helped in the development of Igacos for many years.
If we have fathers who nurtured our growth, it is the del Rosarios (former governor Rodolfo del Rosario and son Gov. Anthony del Rosario) and Floirendo, he said.
Alvarez and Jubahid are aliens to Igacos who have no contribution whatsoever to Igacos, the vice mayor emphasized.
The vice mayor however believes that the local officials will come to their senses and make the right decision who to support in the 2019 mid-term elections, as Alvarez has not delivered on his promises of funding for the barangays.
The Alvarez Wing is fielding Vice Governor Allan Dujali to contest the reelection of Floirendo and Jubahid for governor against Board Member Rodney del Rosario, older brother of Governor Anthony del Rosario who will challenge the reelection bid of Alvarez.
Floirendo and the del Rosarios will run under the banner of the Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP), a regional political party formed by presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. Amit is the HNP’s candidate for Igacos mayor.
Amit said Davao del Norte local officials, including those from Igacos, should learn a lesson from Alvarez’s lies of millions of pesos in development funds if he is reelected.
Prior to the Sanggunian Kabataan and Barangay elections last year, Alvarez, while still the sitting Speaker, also promised funds of P2 million for every barangay in the province  where his candidates under the Alvarez Wing would win in the elections.
It is also reported that Alvarez and Jubahid  cough out thousands of pesos in “pocket money’ to barangay officials if they join the Alvarez Wing and attend its political events.
While barangay officials admit they received the dole-outs, Alvarez is still to deliver on the promised barangay funds.
If Alvarez failed to deliver on his promise before, how much more now that he is no longer the Speaker),” Amit told Baog in the radio interview.
Alvarez was replaced by former President now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in a coup in July this year. Mayor Duterte-Carpio is said to have initiated the ouster of Alvarez for earlier calling HNP as an “opposition party.”
